Exact sizes, to the millimetre: the workshop works out the railing.

Question 1 of 7

How wide at the bottom, wall to wall?

Put the tape just above the window sill (the blue line on the drawing). The exact size, in millimetres.

mm

Open the window and measure from wall to wall inside the opening, where the railing will fit. Raw size: do not take anything off, we allow for the fitting clearance.

Ironwork, made to your measurements

C-scrolls between the bars, S-scroll frieze, Directoire rings, hearts, medallion: seven designs inspired by old balconies, drawn for your window. The scrolls are welded in the workshop onto a solid steel frame, then painted with it.

The finishes

The shape of the scrolls, their ends, square, twisted or ringed bars, gilded highlights: each design is set in a single button, and the price follows.

Always to the standard

Each design is checked at your measurements: no gap lets a 11 cm ball through below 80 cm from the floor, 18 cm above (NF P01-012), and nothing serves as a foothold to climb. A design that fails is not offered.

Three measurements to take

You take three tape measurements: the width between the walls just above the sill, the same width 1 m from the floor, and the height from the floor to the bottom of the window (the window height is optional). We work out the railing height so that it meets the rule. The railing fits into the reveal, fixed into the thickness of the walls. If a measurement surprises us, we call you before cutting. If you prefer, the workshop comes to measure up.

A height set by the rule

Upstairs, a window whose sill is less than 90 cm from the floor must be guarded: that is the French building code. The top of the handrail is always in the same place: at least 1 m from the floor (we aim for 1,025 mm). It is the railing that grows or shrinks with your window. We do the sum from your measurements, and we show you the models in which no gap is too wide.

French craftsmanship

Every piece leaves our own workshop: the wood is picked board by board, the steel is TIG-welded then painted, and final assembly is done by hand. No production runs: your piece is made for you, to order.

Delivery anywhere in France, fitting optional

We deliver anywhere in mainland France by carrier: the price depends on your town, the weight and the size, and appears on the product page as soon as you enter your postcode. The piece travels protected, and we agree a precise time slot with you. The piece arrives ready, with its notes. If you would rather the workshop delivered and fitted it itself, choose that on the product page: the price depends on the distance from Saumur, and it all happens in a single trip.

Frequently asked questions

What are the lead and delivery times?

Each piece is made to order. The time is shown on the piece's own page, on the “Lead time” line: from 3 to 12 weeks depending on the model — a chair leaves sooner than a staircase. Then comes delivery across mainland France (assembly is included if you choose fitting by the workshop); we propose a precise slot as soon as your piece is ready.

Can the lead time be shorter?

Some steps cannot be rushed: drying the timber, welding, painting, finishing. We can sometimes bring an order forward depending on the workshop schedule — call us and we will tell you where we stand.

Can I order custom dimensions?

Yes. For tables and railings, enter your dimensions on the product page: the price appears at once and you can order online. For a particular shape, a timber outside our range or a piece priced on quote, write to us: we adapt the model and price it.

How does payment work?

Pieces from the collection are paid in full by card when you order, and your invoice is sent automatically. For made-to-measure work quoted individually (staircase, steel partition, sculpture), the payment terms are set out on the quote. Backlit stretch ceilings, including at your own dimensions, are ordered and paid online like the rest of the collection.

How do I care for a wood & steel piece?

A soft dry cloth day to day. For oiled wood, re-apply hardwax oil once a year; scratches sand out lightly. Painted steel wipes clean with a damp sponge — no abrasives.

What we are trying to do

To make pieces in steel and solid wood that can still be sanded and repainted in thirty years, rather than replaced.
